the giver
There are many examples of the text from our media that parallel the book The Giver. Some of these examples are articles about Edward Snowden, U.S. incarceration rates, Arizona’s ban books, and songs such as Muse. All of these texts have strong evidence of how The Giver society parallels our society.
I would say that Edward Snowden is a traitor. The reason why is because he put all the trust of the U.S. citizens in danger. He was suppose to keep lots of secrets as a technical contractor. Edward was betrayed all of the ( Trust, cooperation, and all the respect for common procedures. ) He also betrayed the organization that are trying to protect all the U.S.
The article about incarcerating the population of the U.S. parallels The Giver. Both of these examples were all a problem. The examples were all of the things that both The Giver and Edward Snowden did wrong. Which is also like the situations. The situations were all of the secrets, surveillance and the whistleblowers in The Giver and with Edward Snowden.
Lots of countries have “banned’’ Mexican American books. The Tucson school district once came for the Mexican American studies program. And now, they have come for its books! TUSD claims that seven book titles were ordered boxed. And still there are more than seven book titles that were carried off. 50 books have been or are being removed from every school. Lots of countries have “banned” Mexican American books.
There are lots of examples that show that Edward Snowden and The Giver parallel. Example #1, they both parallel because of the people forcing them. Police are forcing Edward to go to jail. And Jonas wants to make decisions for himself. Example #2, they both parallel because they don’t want to be controlled. Edward is now to be controlled by the police. And Jonas is being controlled by the people in his country. Example #3, they both parallel because they want to be victorious. Edward doesn’t want to be in jail. And Jonas wants to be free.
In conclusion, they both parallel in lots of different ways. Edward Snowden and The Giver are very much similar. Its like they kind of have the same life (For me.) I mean they kind of have the same exact problems. The force, the controlling, and the victorious.
